What I WOULD do again for my wedding day

As a 2022 Bride and a Wedding Photographer, I have been able to experience both sides of the wedding industry. A main objective of mine was always to make the day as less stressful as possible for me and my partner throughout the planning process to ensure a smooth wedding day. So, here are some tips on what I WOULD do again on my wedding day.

  1. Hire a 2nd Photographer: I can’t begin to tell you how many more memories this gifted us, than the traditional solo photographer. Normally adding a second photographer is $50-$100 an hour, so pretty affordable in the grand scheme of your budget. I highly recommend it!

  2. Hiring vendors I connected with: Having a personal connection to your photographer, videographer, and wedding coordinator are key. These are the people you will end up spending the majority of your day with. It’s super important you are all on the same page, so your needs are met and prioritized best!

  3. Hiring a Wedding Coordinator: PLEASE, don’t skip out on someone to coordinate your wedding day! There are plenty of coordinators who offer packages such as one year, 6 months, 3 months, or just day of wedding coordination. You will not regret having someone experienced to help tie your wedding day together, just as you and your partner envision it.

  4. Hiring a Videographer: Of course photography was top on my list, but videography was right behind it. Nothing could change my mind on this one. We have already gotten to re-experience our wedding day in its entirety and I can’t imagine that getting any less dull as the years go by. This was one of our top investments!

  5. Hiring an Exit Vehicle service: Most weddings will have alcohol and fun at the reception. It was such a relief to have a designated driver, who wasn’t a family or friend at the party, take care of our drive back to our lodging. It ensured a safe and stress free drive without having to pull our guests away.

  6. Photography Checklist: Have your Wedding Photography Checklist ready early! I created my photography checklist before my wedding timeline. I wanted to make sure the day moved around what pictures I wanted captured rather than the other way around. This ensures that nothing is missed and you are never short on time. After that I kept in communication with my vendors in order to craft our perfect wedding timeline with the help of my wedding coordinator.

  7. Preparation: Personally, detail shots were a huge must on my list of shots. I had a box ready to go for my photographer and videographer upon arrival that included things such as: my wedding shoes, wedding jewelry, viel, florals, wedding rings, invitation suite, perfume, garter, etc. This way, it was easily accessible and I didn’t have to worry about where everything was while getting ready. (Pro-tip: check out my blog about a Wedding Emergency Kit, it saved my day more than once!)

This is just a short list of what I WOULD do again on my wedding day. In the grand scheme, these were big ticket items that helped relieve SO much stress on our wedding day!
